I love talking
Public speaking is not something I ever dreamt of doing as a kid. I was pretty sure firefighter, sailor or some other adventurous activity was at the top of the list.
Through my years of training and coaching in basically every water based sport (plus a few land ones), presenting pitches and hosting events on global stages, I realised how much I love talking to people.
So much so that in 2020 I turned my hand to podcasting (Waves Connects) and launched my second podcast (Outside & Active at Raccoon Events) in 2022, interviewing the likes of Ben Fogle, Julia Bradbury and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

I love learning
Whenever I go an adventure, event, conference or exhibition, I always find myself drawn to either someone with an interesting story to tell or sessions that light up the imagination or fire the senses.
When hosting or presenting as a guest on other panels, I always learn from my co-speakers and the questions the audience ask. The recent Event Tech Talk Show is a great example, having picked up expert tips from my co-guests Jason Allan Scott and Caleb Parker Bold about podcasting.
As a panel moderator or stage host, whether it’s sharing case studies, asking questions to a panel or talking about the latest trends impacting an industry, I thrive on sharing the knowledge of our guests with the audience before us.

I love people
I’d be in the wrong business if I didn’t like people right?
Everyone has a unique story, you just have to ask the right questions to enable them to share their experiences with an engaged audience.
And that’s what I love doing. From pre-event calls, meetings, coffees or whatever situation suits the topic or individual, I work with the people I’m hosting to really understand their story and help shape the conversation we share.
This last year, I’ve hosted Iwan Thomas, Suzanne Shaw, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Ben Fogle, Julia Bradbury (ok ok, I’m name dropping, but you get my point… I love talking and these people are some of my heroes).
