Standing out from the crowd

In a world where marketers are constantly competing for attention, it can be difficult to stand out from the noise.

To make matters worse, many of us use tried-and-true tactics that have been around since the beginning of time—like talking about pain points in order to position ourselves as allies who understand our customers’ problems.

So how can you differentiate yourself and be heard above the fray? By relying on relationships rather than eyeballs and finding your own point of view.

Finding Your Point of View

The most effective way to stand out is by having your own point of view.

You need something that serves as a beacon, something that shows people why they should listen to you instead of someone else.

It could be something funny or witty, an opinion piece that challenges convention, or even a creative approach to discussing a common topic—the possibilities are endless (did you see my comic strip yesterday?).

The key is to give your audience something that speaks directly to them and encourages them to take action. This will help you build relationships rather than just getting eyeballs for selling professional services or event programs.

Building Relationships Through Social Media

Social media has become one of the best ways for businesses to reach their target audiences and build relationships with them, obvs.

But it's not enough to just post content — you need to create content that engages people and gets them talking about your brand.

To do this, you need content that resonates with your audience and encourages dialogue between them and you (or other members in your community). Whether it's using influencers or creating interactive content like polls or quizzes, these strategies will help get people excited about what you have to offer and keep the conversation going long after they've stopped scrolling through their news feed. I know this is something I have to get better at in 2023.

Providing Value Through Content Marketing

Content marketing is another great way for businesses to stand out from the crowd and provide value beyond simple product promotion.

By creating helpful resources (that actually help!) like ebooks, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc., businesses can provide customers with valuable information that helps them solve their problems or learn more about their industry without expecting anything in return—except loyalty!

Content marketing also gives businesses an opportunity to position themselves as thought leaders in their field by providing expertise on topics related to their industry or customer base and is something we work with our customers on.

Stand out, be different

In today’s competitive market where everyone seems intent on doing the same thing over and over again, standing out from the crowd is not only important but necessary if you want your message heard above all others'.

I once launched a campaign called "doing things differently" and we sponsored a pro paddleboarder to use in our campaigns to help us stand out - and it worked - as we wanted our clients and prospects to think differently about what was possible - and they did.

Understanding pain points is crucial, but finding your own point of view, building relationships through social media tactics, and providing value via content marketing strategies; companies have a great opportunity to lead through social media instead of just following along behind others who are doing it first.

With some creativity and dedication (plus a little bit of luck!), you can succeed in standing out from the crowd. If you need a hand with your next content work, drop us a line.
